PCB is playing an increasingly active role in automobiles. Currently, top vehicles contain more than 200 PCB control units, some of
which are sensors and processors used in car cockpits. It can be concluded that the value of electronic products serving
automobiles lies in the power system, body and chassis, most of which are related to digital power.
The application of PCB in automobiles aims to improve automobile performance, including three aspects:
a. Environmental improvement means saving fuel, reducing exhaust gas, and converting fuel from gasoline, natural gas, and biofuels
to hybrid power and pure electricity. Therefore, electric vehicles have become the strategic direction of the automotive industry.
b. Safety enhancement lies in reducing traffic accidents, from airbags, radar monitoring, stereo cameras, infrared monitoring and
automatic avoidance to automatic driving. At present, self-driving cars are attracting the attention and investment of most people.
C. Considering convenience and humanity, convenience and comfort are usually rooted in audio, video display, air conditioning,
computers, mobile communications, the Internet, navigation and electronic toll collection.
As the backbone of electronic equipment, PCBs (printed circuit boards) used in automobiles must also meet the requirements listed
above.
The basic requirements of automotive PCB:
·Quality Assurance Requirements
The basic requirement for long-term quality assurance of manufacturers or distributors lies in a sound quality management system,
that is, ISO9001 from an international perspective. Due to the particularity of the automotive industry, three leading automakers in
North America jointly established a quality management system specifically for the automotive industry in 1994, namely QS9000.
At the beginning of the 21st century, the new quality management system was published by automobile manufacturers around the
world in accordance with ISO9001, which is ISO/TS16949.
As a technical regulation of the global automotive industry, ISO/TS16949 integrates the special requirements of the automotive
industry and focuses on defect prevention, quality fluctuations and waste reduction in the automotive parts supply chain.
Therefore, automotive PCB manufacturers must first obtain a certificate of ISO/TS16949 in order to truly enter the automotive
market.
·Basic requirements for performance
High reliability
There are two main aspects of automobile reliability: one is the normal working life of the control unit and electronic components,
and the other is environmental resistance, which makes the automobile control unit and electronic components perform well in
extreme environments.
The average service life of a car is 10 to 12 years, during which only parts or vulnerable parts can be replaced. In other words,
the electronic system and PCB must have the same service year as the car.
